Hello. I am Ridwan Naim Faruq, a proud Infectious Disease physician, excited to serve the community.
I was born in Brooklyn, New York and at the age of 5, I moved to Bangladesh with my family where I lived for almost 25 years, having had the chance to grow up there and embrace their culture, go to school, make some amazing friends and eventually go to medical school there. It was during medical school when I was first introduced to microbiology, the study of bugs and this was what first sparked my interest in these bugs, paving the way for my future interest in Infectious disease. In fact, I loved microbiology so much, I ended up working almost 2 years in the microbiology department at my medical school after I graduated medical school. It was during my time in medical school that I met my future wife and we got married in Bangladesh.
I eventually moved to the US, and completed my Internal medicine residency at Yale New Haven Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut and eventually found myself in Dallas where I had the pleasure of doing my Infectious Disease fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I have been in Dallas ever since and I have come to make some amazing friends in Dallas. It is here in Dallas, where my son was born and so Dallas always holds a soft spot in me.
I love watching football (or soccer as some folks like to call it here) and I am a die-hard Real Madrid fan (madridista at heart). Back in the school and medical school days, I used to play football as a goalkeeper and I still play football with friends in Dallas from time to time. I also love following tennis (Rafael Nadal fan here!) and recently started following the NBA. I grew up as a musician from my school days and play several instruments and played in several bands growing up. My music taste ranges from early bands like Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Megadeth, The Doors to more contemporary acts like Coldplay, 1975, Post Malone.
